Concept

For Art 430 we were required to make a kinetic typography video with a song of our choice. I used “You’re Welcome” by Dwayne Johnson from the movie Moana because of the imagery it would allow me to create.

Because the film is geared towards a younger audience, and it takes place in a tropical setting, I chose to work in bright colors. Since Johnson’s voice is very boistrous and strong, I chose to use a clean san serif for most of the text, emphasizing specific words with a bold, cartoonish font.

The animation of the text and graphics are swift and bold, perfectly complimenting the smooth-talking, self-absorbed Maui persona.
