Concept

For Art 420 students were placed in groups and tasked to create a short film using short stories provided by creative writing students. Our group decided to write our own original story instead. What resulted was a story of a college student’s battle with depression, and the suicide letter that she wrote to the people that loved her.

In our shots we focused on making the main character, Isobel, look isolated.  The shots are a mix between Isobel writing her suicide letter at her desk and moments of her every day life, both the good and the bad.

With this film we were really hoping to reach out to high school and college students struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts. We wanted to remind them that while there are going to be bad days, there is always somebody out there who is rooting for you and loves you.
