Concept

A short film created for my honor’s thesis about a young girl’s experiences with chemotherapy and how she reimagines her journey with cancer. This piece was created with the intent of inspiring children with cancer and giving them hope for their own journey.

The film is interspersed with animated and live action segments. The live action portions show the girl’s fight with cancer, and the animated portions shows how she depicts the experience in her drawing journal.

Animations are created with a variation of puppet animation and frame-by-frame animation, both done in Photoshop. A simple drawing design done in black and white was used to portray the young girl’s journal drawings.
